How to ship heavy loads, 2024
The project consists of one installation and two sculptures.
The installation is made of recycled cardboard boxes from international shipments. Originally designed as a work meant to be sent, the sculptures are simultaneously a body, a cardboard box, and a rock, alluding to their impossibility of being shipped. In this way, they become part of a kind of failed relational art.
Broadly speaking, the work draws a parallel between the ease of shipping objects internationally or purchasing items from another country and the difficulty people face when migrating from their countries of origin.
Also, there are two sculptures. The firs one was created from the mold of the suitcase I used when I migrated from Chile. It is presented as a rock, symbolizing the weight of the things we carry when we move from one place to another. At the same time, the top part alludes to the Andes Mountains, with a view similar to the one I had near the place where I lived in Santiago.
The second sculpture is the mold of the wheel from the same sculpture, placed on a pile of lost item complaint forms from Royal Mail.

El proyecto consiste en una instalación hecha de cajas de cartón recicladas de envíos internacionales. Diseñada originalmente como una obra para ser enviada, las esculturas son al mismo tiempo un cuerpo, una caja de cartón y una roca, haciendo alusión a su imposibilidad de ser enviadas. Así, forman parte de una especie de arte relacional fallido.
En términos generales, la obra hace un paralelo entre la facilidad de enviar objetos internacionalmente o comprar objetos de otro país, contra la dificultad de las personas de migrar de sus países de origen.
Luego hay dos esculturas. La primera es una obra creada a partir del molde de la maleta que usé cuando migré de Chile. Esta se presenta como una roca, para hacer alusión al peso de las cosas que cargamos cuando nos movemos de un lugar a otro. Al mismo tiempo, la parte superior hace alusión a la cordillera de los Andes, con una vista similar a la que tenía cerca del lugar donde vivía en Santiago.
La segunda escultura es el molde de la rueda de la misma maleta, sobre una pila de hojas de queja de objetos perdidos del Royal Mail.
